Wallingford is the Place to Be

Wallingford is THE Seattle neighborhood, here’s why:

Seated just north of Lake Union, Wallingford offers a neighborhood feel without sacrificing distance to downtown, University of Washington, and access to I-5. Craftsman style homes line the charming streets, making the walk score of 85 even more appealing. Additionally, a bike score of 86 is made with easy access to the Burke Gilman Trail.

Wallingford is home to a huge selection of neighborhood cafes including:

  • Irwin’s Bakery & Cafe: the coziest, most charming neighborhood spot. Fresh pastries and coffee – need we say more?
  • Mas Cafe: a breakfast burrito worth waiting for, as well as selection of breakfast sandwiches, espresso, and juice.
  • Muddy Cup Cafe & Roaster: roasting their own beans = fresh, delicious coffee. A relaxed space perfect for catching up with friends or spending some time alone.
  • Julia’s of Wallingford: the perfect casual breakfast or brunch spot. Friendly people, great food.
  • Hushy’s Sandwiches: a local deli using house made focaccia bread, complete with espresso, cocktails and beer

Wallingford has great access to some of Seattle’s best parks. Just minutes from Gas Works Park, enjoy spectating the water activity and Seattle skyline on the grassy hills. Better yet, check out water sports rentals available on Northlake Ave to spend the day kayaking or paddle boarding on Lake Union. North of Wallingford is Green Lake Park. Take a walk or bike ride along the 2.8 mile loop along the lake, join in on the pickleball or tennis courts, or rent a paddle boat to hit the water. Find shopping and restaurant amenities around the lake as well for refreshments.

Wallingford also has consistently excellent public schools, including:

  • John Stanford Elementary School
  • McDonald International Elementary School
  • Hamilton International Middle School
  • Lincoln High School

all of which were ranked by niche as A-rated schools.

In terms of retail and dining, Wallingford offers a wide variety of selection. On North 45th St, you’ll find the commercial area of Wallingford, packed with retail, cafes, and other boutiques, as well as the Wallingford branch of the Seattle Public Library. Some of the well known restaurants in the area include:

  • Gasworks Brewing: on the shore of Lake Union, enjoy a beer and a selection of small bites, burgers and salads.
  • Pam’s Kitchen: delightful Caribbean food with an inviting atmosphere. You may catch Pam herself, always friendly and happy to have you.
  • Westward: an upscale dining experience with fresh seafood right on Lake Union.
  • Tutta Bella: a cozy, family friendly pizza and Italian, plenty of items to share.
